EERI Student ChapterFounder
The TaskDuring my freshman year at Northeastern University in 2014, I founded a student chapter of the professional Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (NUEERI).
The ImplementationI led the group through the initial process of petitioning for a new club; obtaining letters of support from faculty at Northeastern, writing a constitution that satisfied both Northeastern and EERI's requirements for a student chapter, and recruiting new members.
During my involvement with NUEERI, I held positions of Secretary and Vice President which allowed me a voice at Civil Engineering Department curriculum meetings, where I offered constructive criticism to the department head for improvements to the student experience. The OutcomeAs a result of my leadership, my club gained recognition by both Northeastern University and the professional EERI, and also entered and placed 12th in a structural design competition in our first year.
