Jacobs EngineeringTobin Bridge Electrical & Systems Renovation
The TaskA design proposal submission to MassDOT for the removal, redesign, and installation of the electrical system on the Tobin Bridge was overdue. The design plans weren't cohesive, data was outdated, and the CAD was drafted without the accepted standards. We needed an overhaul from the ground up, and fast.
The ImplementationI collaborated closely with team superiors to interpret and incorporate the submission requirements into the plans by creating around 60 brand new CAD sheets with correct drafting standards, industry recognized symbols, and new ideas for solving the unique problem of running electrical conduits across, through, over, and around the beams of the longest spanning bridge in Boston.
I directed team meetings by preparing agendas for discussion and following up with team members and MassDOT representatives. I simplified and broke down the lengthy task list of an initial design submission into executable items that I delegated to my coworkers. The OutcomeOur team was able to complete the design proposal by the new deadline and with client satisfaction. The most valuable outcome of this project was the respect I earned from my superiors and the growth in my confidence in my drafting skills and leadership abilities. About Jacobs Engineering |
